A family home Set in Kerala, presented a unique requirement. The house needed to be both introverted as well as extroverted. Being the family’s main home, it needed to outwardly make a statement, but also needed to have an intimate setting to work best for a close knit family of 6.

We’ve used natural and easily available material around the town of kuravilangad, Kerala for the project. The material palette is off-whites, beige and brown heavy, with woods, and landscape to balance the earth tones.

Pattern tiles peek into the design strategically, giving us a window to the past of the space, and the family. Furniture is retained from the family’s antiques; a lot of them being heirlooms have been in the family for generations, and have been refurbished. Fabric heavy new furniture has been added to offset all the wood and warmth.
